Statement
My current interest is in creating systems for the acquisition, management,
and display of information with a geographic component. This includes maps
and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). I have a special interest in
geographic information that supports telling stories...
Here is an image to express the difference.
This includes track log and way point information gathered with the help
of my GPS from our recent travels. This image is the map of a story. It
includes some 'objective' geographic information, but the focus is kept on
places that were significant to me.
When my friend David saw this map he said "it reminds me of the maps in
The Lord of the Rings. It is the map of a story, rather than of a
place, and ultimately, story is more important.
