posted in /geek Gumstix Computer based geo annotator

I want a Gumstix computer, very small linux based machine with two serial ports, usb, 64 mb ram...pretty cheap, connect it to a cheap GPS module and you have a continuas track log device. It appears that the Gumstix currently supports USB client, but I'd like to connect a USB wifi card so the unit would upload data whenever it had wifi. It could use an old palm pilot as a serial console. (10 minutes later) I just chatted with Raffi...who now wants a general platform for geo annotation to which sensors can be attached... My other thoughts:
  • capture sound levels
  • full sound geoannotations (memor!)
  • geocode your expenses
  • geocode your heart rate
  • geocode your brainwwaves

    Sparky's in San Diego is the best bar I have ever been to. Half the staff are Burners, and the owner, Paul, is an ordained minister in the Churce of the Sub Genious. Paul also gave Raj, Joe, and I a ride back to our hotels after the bar closed. Talk about cool! And for me that ride forced Paul to drive to the dreaded Pickwick... He asked where I was staying and recoilled in horror when I told him. He thought I was joking. No sane person stays at The Pickwick! 1521 30th St
